Day 5: Sri Lanka Vacation

After breakfast, we went outside and walked through the lovely English garden belonging to the inn. It wasn't long before our driver came and picked us up. Today was our day to visit a tea plantation! We enjoyed an interesting and informative tour of the Blue Fields Plantation Factory. The tea guide showed us the entire process of how they produce different types of tea. Then we were treated to a lovely cup of tea in their cafe.
Then after tea, we went to the strawberry farm. It was right in the middle of the tea plantations and so we got a few more photos of the workers picking some tea leaves. A boy along side of the road who was selling lettuce picked Tyler a tea leaf to have, as well as a flower. It was very nice of him!

We then got back on the road and explored Gregory Park in "Little England". It has a huge lake containing huge swan boats you can rent and a houseboat. A fisherman approached us and showed us to his fish farm. Tyler got to feed his fish. By the time we were finished at the park, we were hungry for lunch. Our driver took us to a neat little place in town that cooks rice and noodles outside. They have little camping tents set up outside to eat in to protect us from the flies.
This concluded our tours for the day which was fine because it allowed us some downtime to have a nap. We went back to our hotel. It started to rain as we were resting in our beds. We had our window open and there was a nice cool refreshing air coming in our room. The climate was cooler there because we were up in the mountains.

For dinner, we were delighted to have a traditional Sri Lankan meal especially prepared for us by the chef. The manager came by our table the night before and asked what we were interested in having. We had no clue. He suggested the Sri Lankan meal, which we were excited about. It was quite good, though a little was a tad bit spicy. The chef came out to meet us and asked how everything was. The staff so friendly and went out of their way to make our stay quite comfortable. See a lot more photos below.LOL
