Back to School

This morning Tanya phoned and thought it would be neat if we went and visited the schools we used to attend. Tanya and I went to all the same schools together. We thought it would be fun to walk through the hallways and reminisce about our younger years and perhaps run into a teacher or two that we may have had. The first stop on our list was where it all began; our elementary school! To our surprise, they changed the entrance to the school and included a buzzer that we had to ring to be allowed inside. Then we had to get special permission to walk through the school. My how times have changed since we were in school! After all these years, there were a lot that remained the same, including the girls bathroom...LOL Even some of the pictures hanging on the wall were still the exact same and hanging in the exact same spot! I just had to take a photo of the picture of Queen that I still remember passing by everyday on the way to the library. When we signed in, one of the ladies in the office asked our names and it turned out she remembered me. She was my Grade 4 teacher! Then it was off to high school. During the summer months, they did some renovations to the front of the building and changed the location of the entrance. Again, we had to be buzzed in and then the principal gave us a quick tour of most of the building. There were a lot of new additions to our old school, but a lot still remained exactly the same. There were video cameras everywhere that you can imagine too. Finally it was time to turn back time and relive our Junior High memories. Again to gain entrance, we had to be buzzed in. Tanya saw one of her teachers that she used to have. Of all our schools, this one had the few amount of changes. Almost everything was still the same, except that not all the classrooms were being used. Enrollment has declined greatly since we attended. A lot of families are forced to move out west to look for jobs. Overall, it was sad to see most of our teachers retired and to witness how much the schools have changed with the added security. However, if I had children attending the schools, I would definite welcome this change in knowing that they are fully safe and secure. Steve Update: Today Steve had his first newspaper press conference. Tomorrow he has his first televised press conference. The televised conferences require a lot more work on his part, but he says he is ready for it. It was a high of 113 degrees Fahrenheit with some thunder and lightning. Barbie, hope you are on your feet and feeling much better soon!!! Maybe Rita's and a feast of crabs might help;) We miss you guys!!!
