Arabian Horse Show

Our friend, Mariana, invited us to the Bahrain Arabian Horse Show. She is a horse veterinarian at one of the stables here in Bahrain and a few of their horses were showing. I had been to a lot of horse shows in the past and this one, by far, totally took top honors. It was the first horse show that I've been to that played music while the horses were in the ring. The Arabian breed is known for their high temperament and part of the show, the presenters try their best to bring it out by getting them to run at top speeds and kick up their legs.Meanwhile to help out, spectators brought plastic bags to get the horse going even more. It was quite exciting! Then the presenters had the job of calming them down so the judges can look at the shape of the horse, the way they walked, and how they stand. We saw the mares and the stallions being showed. My favorite horse was my friend's beautiful white mare. The horses wore "eye shadow" and had their muzzles all shined up.
Bahrain also has horse jumping competitions every two weeks and horse races. The horse races are attended by the king, also something neat to experience before we leave the island. Here are some photos. I took over 700 photos in total.
