Monday Funday

This morning we met Chellee at her work to pick up some things we forgot at her house yesterday. Then we decided to go to lunch together. After lunch, we drove her back to work and she showed us around the police station where she works. Soon we were back on the road and on the way to Orlando to the outlet stores on International Drive. We walked around for a bit, checked out some of the stores, and then got some Belgium chocolate milkshakes at Haagen Daz which were super yummy! Back in the car, we decided to show Tyler the tourist sites down the road. We pointed out the upside down building attraction, but there was no fooling Tyler. He knew it was built that way. We should have video taped the conversation because it was pretty funny. Afterwards we went home and enjoyed a delicious meal. Tomorrow we have to wake up super early and go to the airport to continue on to the next chapter on our family vacation to the Caymen Islands!!!! :)

At Chellee & Peter's

Chellee and Peter invited us to church this morning. While attending a beautiful worship, Tyler went to his very first Sunday school class. After church, we grabbed some lunch and headed back to Chellee and Peter's. While there we went to get some ice cream to make some yummy sundaes. Then later on we played a game called Mexican Train. It was the first time for Steve and I to play and it was so much fun. The night ended with a delicious meal prepared by Chellee. Thank you so much Chellee and Peter for an awesome day!!! We really enjoyed spending time with you guys.

We're in Florida!

Well, if you didn't know by now or guess from yesterday's post, we're in Florida! We drove down Thursday and we've been having a great visit with Grandma and Papa. This afternoon Steve took us for lunch at a great Italian restaurant in Winter Park. It was super yummy and a nice place to dine outdoors. Afterwards, we went to the park across the street where we strolled the grounds and let Tyler run off some energy. Then it was off to the mall to meet up with Chellee, Peter and the kids. We walked around for a bit, took the kids to the play place and then decided to grab some dinner at a barbeque place. After we ate, Steve mentioned about checking the World Market store out. Brye asked if she could ride with us over to the store. Brye and Tyler were having a lot of fun together. Then once we got in the store, all three cousins had a blast walking throughout the store together. It was really nice seeing them together. Overall, it was terrific seeing Chellee, Peter and the family. We look forward to getting together again with them tomorrow.

Anniversary "Photo"

Today we're celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary. This morning we wanted to take a photo of us together, but ended up taking video by mistake. LOL Anyway enjoy this video, though it's just us posing for what we thought was a photo. LOL Even though we didn't do anything spectacular to celebrate, just being together meant more than anything. We haven't spent an anniversary together in a few years. We are very blessed to be so in love and to live a very happy life together. The day we met, God answered our prayers.

Steve's Home Coming

We've been waiting for this moment to arrive for 7 long months and the day had finally arrived. We drove to the base with the Welcome Home sign that we made for Steve and waited on the pier with the rest of the Mesa Verde families. They had a tent set up, pizza, juice, and 92.9 The Wave radio station providing music until the arrival of our loved ones. Then they announced that the ship would in fact be arriving 30 minutes early then scheduled, everyone went wild with cheer. Everyone started lining up along the pier side once the tug boat made the signal that they were on their way to the ship. They sprayed water and twirled around in circles while blowing their horn. It was quite exciting, but the wait for them to bring Steve's ship seemed like an eternity. FINALLY, we could see one of the masts belonging to the Mesa Verde. I couldn't believe my eyes!!!! Steve was home!!!!!! The tug boat was so slow pulling the massive ship and it seemed like they were torturing us with the wait. There was another ship docked in front of us and the Mesa Verde had to go around it, so we didn't get to see the entire ship until they finished going around it. For a good 10 minutes, Steve's ship was gone from our view again as we waited. The anticipation was killing us!!!! Then all of a sudden, it came into our view again. Slowly being pulled in. We could see the sailors manning the rails. As they got closer, I noticed one sailor off to the side with something black in his hand. I immediately thought it could be a camera and it might be Steve. So, I studied the actions of this particular sailor as the ship got closer and I was more than certain that was MY SAILOR up there!!!!!! :) Sure enough I found out later that I was indeed right. :) Again after another eternity, they pulled into to the pier. I started waving Winnie like a mad woman to get Steve's attention. I thought sure he would know that it was us if he saw Winnie. LOL After another while they let the winners of the first hug and first kiss go to the ship, followed by the VIP families. Tyler and I went back in the tent to wait as it was quite hot in the sun. Then we noticed people started walking towards the ship and sailors coming out walking amongst them finding their loved ones. They were all dressed the same. I told Tyler to keep a sharp eye. We reached the opening of the ship where the sailors were coming out and there right in front of me was my husband walking down the ramp with a huge bouquet of roses. I started to dodge the crowd and call his name. It was very emotion. It was such a long 7 months and the waiting was finally over. I surprised him as I appeared right in front of him. We embraced and kissed. he feeling was just so overwhelming to know that he was back with us again. I didn't want to ever let him go. Tyler was so very excited and happy to see his dad again. He told him how much he missed and loved him. It was just such a wonderful feeling to know we were finally together again. After all the hugs and kisses, Steve took us on board of his "home for 7 months" and showed us around. It was a really nice ship, very clean inside and new looking. The ship only about 5 years old. The ship is named after a National Park and even has a museum on board, which was really cool to see. We got to meet some of his shipmates who helped us carry his things out to the car. The drive home was so nice. Just to be all together again as a family knowing that we were on our way home. We've missed Steve so very much!!! With a pile of stuff brought home, Steve started unpacking. Tyler had fun helping Daddy go through his things. Steve brought us home some really nice souvenirs from some of the incredible countries he visited during his deployment. One of the things he brought home for Tyler was this matching camel and camel shirt from Dubai...super cute!!! Tyler LOVES it!!! Tyler was also delighted to add to his rock collection thanks to Daddy. Another special moment was being able to sit down to the dinner table as a whole family again. During the time that Steve was gone, one of the loneliness times during our day would be at mealtimes. It was very quiet and another reminder that Steve wasn't with us. I had been planning his Welcome Home dinner for a few weeks prior to his return. Ever since having sushi had my friend Yasuko's house, I knew this would be my surprise dinner for Steve as he is a great lover of Japanese cuisine. The dinner turned out prefect, mainly because we had Steve to share it with us. Overall, we are incredible happy that Steve is back with us. Tyler is constantly telling him how much he loves him and he hasn;t stopped smiling since we first saw him come off the ship...actually that makes two of us. :) Thank you God for bringing him back to us safe and sound and for getting us through another deployment.

Hello Kitty Birthday Party

This morning I started my birthday off by making some "French Toast" for Tyler and I. For my birthday, my friend, Erika sent me a toast press with a picture of the Eiffel Tower and the words "Bonjour". It is super cute and breakfast is going to be so much more fun to make. Later on my friend, Rhia, and her kids took Tyler and I to a really nice mall where the kids played in the Play Place for awhile. Afterwards, Rhia treated Tyler and I to ice cream for a little birthday celebration. We had birthday cake and cotton candy, both were so yummy! Then we walked around the mall and went into one of my favourite stores, Sanrio, where they sell Hello Kitty merchandise. They have games there to play to win some Hello Kitty prizes. The kids had a few turns playing and then I gave a try at the "Hello Kitty Spin the Wheel" and won some Hello Kitty envelopes and stickers. It was like having a Hello Kitty themed party complete with party games. LOL Overall, it was a nice birthday and I'm glad I could spend it with my friends. Thank you everyone for the cards, presents, and birthday wishes. You are all so sweet! In a couple of days, I'll receive my best present of all, the arrival of my husband after being deployed for 7 months.

Snuggles 1992-2010
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Snuggles. Snuggles was more than just a pet, she was a family member. She passed away peacefully yesterday in the loving arms of our mother at the age of 18. Snuggles first came to us when my friend from high school, Amy, brought her over to my house. She was found as a stray near her house and Amy was trying to find a good home for her. Frail from starvation and neglect, she didn't look like she was going to survive. After just losing my dear cat of 13 years to cancer a few months previous, our family was not willingly ready to tackle on another pet just yet. We were still grieving Patches' loss. However, once my mom saw her, she couldn't let her go. We were concerned of Snuggles health so we brought her to the vet later that same day. The vet didn't give us much hope. She was in very poor shape and he basically said Snuggles would need a lot of loving if she were to live. My mom and I eventually decided we couldn't let her go to the animal shelter because she wouldn't have much of a chance of getting adopted because of her critical condition.Snuggles became part of our lives that day and soon she was getting back on her feet to better health. She grew into a beautiful healthy cat. She "snuggled" her way into our hearts forever. During the past few years, age took over and she spent most of her days sleeping. Eventually her hearing and eye sight started to give away. The last couple of days of her life were very difficult. Snuggles, you will never be forgotten. Thank you for all the countless unconditional love you gave us. It didn't matter what kind of day we were having, you were always there to brighten our day. Now you are free of pain and you can run, jump and play in the great big field with Abby, Patches, Mandy, Kate & Allie, Tiger, and Lady. Snuggles, we love you. Forever you will be missed.

Happy Birthday, Winnie!!!

I found out this morning that it is Winnie's 4th birthday today. His best buddy, Tyler, said we had to throw a party for him with all his buddies, so we did. There was cake and fish soup and a few games. Then they watched Tyler catch some fish in the lake. Overall, it was a great party.

Car Show

When we arrived at the playground today, we found out that the park was holding a car show. Excitedly, we hurried over to check it out. This was to be Tyler's very first car show. There were lots of really cool cars to look at, however the one that stood out for Tyler was this vintage car that he said looked like Doc from the Cars movie. It was a lot of fun admiring the beautiful cars and Tyler had the greatest time seeing them up close. What a nice surprise to see at the park today.

Gone Fishing

One of the pretend games Tyler likes to play is "fishing". He uses his bed as a boat and lays out two blankets; one is blue with fish (that's the lake he fishes in) and the other is the one his Great Aunt Julie made for him (it's green with trees and serves as the grass beside the lake). Tyler takes his fishing rod and puts on his Nova Scotia yellow hat and becomes Fisherman Tyler. He catches all sorts of tasty fish and passes them to me. I then cut them up and put them in our fish soup that I make for us to eat. It's great pretend fun!

Pretty Park

The other day a friend of ours told us about a park that she absolutely loves. Today Tyler and I decided to go and explore it. We played in the playground for awhile, Tyler had lunch, then we played a little near the lake and saw some turtles swimming. The park is fabulous! It also has a great bike trail. We're super excited to go back with our bikes when Daddy comes back home. While we were there we overheard some children talking to their mom about geocaching. We started talking while our kids played together. She was so very nice and we decided we would meet up again someday before the summer is over for a playdate and to grab some caches that are in the park. Overall it was a great day in a wonderful new park that we're so glad we finally discovered.
