Lowe-Bot

It's a car, no it's a robot...wait, it's both! Today at our wood workshop, we made a car that turns into a robot. This project was a little more challenging than the other projects we completed, just because when we were putting in the nail for the wooden hinge, it cracked. The same thing happened to others. Tyler was a little disappointed that it didn't turn out exactly the way it was suppose to, however the boys did manage to earn their badges and receive their certificates.

Chiny Chin Chin

Well, today we got a boo boo. We were at the mall when he slipped while trying to climb up on one of those coin rides and scraped his little chin. After some tears, a hug and kiss, and a Band-Aid he was feeling better. It's not that often he gets hurt, which is amazing considering how active he is. I can only think of one other scrape he got a couple of years ago.

Spider-riffic 4

Yesterday was the big day for our special boy. It's so hard to believe that 4 years have gone by since we gave birth to this little person who has changed our lives so much. And to celebrate this new milestone, we had a party with some of his friends. Georgie and Sarah, along with their parents Rhia and George came. Also Danny with his parents, Sandra and Mike, as well as our good friend, Larissa joined us. In planning for the party, I asked Tyler what kind of cake he wanted. There was no doubt about it, he was sure he wanted a Spider-Man. So with that being said, we had a Spider-Man themed party. This was the first time I made a Spider-Man cake and I must say that I was quite nervous, but thankfully it turned out alright. This birthday was a little different for us. We introduced Tyler to the fun of party games! We played the game where you open the gift a little each time the music stopped. Whoever fully unwraps the prize, wins it. This was a game I always played at my parties and I was so excited for Tyler to start playing it. However the big hit at the party was the ever so classic game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Afterward, the kids had a great time making their own hand puppets. Overall, it was a great time had by all. Of course, we missed Daddy tons and we wished he could have been there too, but we tried our best to make the most of our special day. Tyler, Mommy and Daddy, love you so very much. You make our world a much happier place and we love watching you grow into such an amazing person. Year three was such a fun age with you, we can only imagine what incredible experiences we'll share with you during your fourth year.

Georgie's Birthday Party

We've been blessed that everywhere we get stationed we meet some great friends. Since moving here last month, Tyler and I have been fortunate enough to meet Rhia and her son, Georgie. And as it turns out we have a couple things in common. We are both Navy wives and our sons are birthday buddies! Georgie is just 3 days younger than Tyler, the same day as Aunt Janell. However, he celebrated his birthday today and we were invited to his party. All the kids had a blast with each other. In this photo, Tyler is trying his luck at the pinata and he managed to get the arm off the transformer! This was a good warm up for a little someone special's birthday tomorrow. ;)

911

As usual, when we go to the library Tyler always picks out a few books to borrow. One of the books he asked me if he could borrow, I never realized what book it was until we got home and started reading it. The book is called "It's Time to Call 911", and it teaches children what to do in an emergency. We read the book together and I explained to him when and how to use 911. He now knows how to call for help, which is a very good thing to learn. Good book choice, Tyler!!!

Today we entered a contest where you had to guess the correct number of heart shaped candies. However my question is not how many candies there are, but rather where on earth did they find a candy dish that big! LOL

Tyler's Valentine from Mommy & Daddy

Valentine's Workshop

So today we attended another workshop where we made a jewelery stand for Valentine's Day. For some reason, this project seemed much easier to complete for us. Perhaps it was because we've had practice from last week's workshop. Nonetheless Tyler and I enjoyed making the projects very much, especially since his friend Georgie and his sister, Sarah were there with us, along with their mom. Georgie and Tyler really like it each and they get along great. After the jewelery holder, we had time for another project, so we made a Frankenstein trick box. I'm not sure what we did wrong, but the trick part of our box doesn't work, so it's just a Frankenstein box. Tyler still really likes it, so that's the important thing. Overall, fantastic time making projects with our new friends.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Little did I know when I woke up this morning that this would be my Valentine's Day. :) It all started this morning when we got a parcel in the mail from my mom. We opened it up to see she had sent Tyler and I Valentine's Day cards and little treats. She gave Tyler a bunch of stickers and she sent me my absolute favourite chocolates, Lindt. Then a few hours later and to my surprise, I receive these BEAUTIFUL flowers from my best friend in the entire world, my husband. It was sooo sweet of him!!!! I put them in a vase right away and just stared and admired them for awhile. Steve makes me so very happy. How blessed I am to have such caring, loving people in my life. They have made my "Valentine's Day" extra special. Thank you Steve and Mom!!! I love you both very much!!!

Steve, there is not a moment that goes by that I don't think of you. I miss you so very very much!!! You are my Valentine dream come true!!!

Sandra Visits and We Meet Danny

We had the pleasure to spend the day with a friend whom we haven't seen in almost 5 years. My dear friend, Sandra, and I were stationed together in Sicily and we eventually became co-workers. Since then we both gave birth to our sons and she and her husband are also expecting the birth of their second child in June. We talked about the joys of parenthood while our boys were busy playing together. Danny and Tyler got along perfectly. I am so happy to be stationed together again with such an amazing friend and I look forward to spending more time with Sandra and Danny again.

Buzz

For completing his book assignment which required us to read 8 books, Tyler got to pick something out of the library's treasure chest. The something that he picked out was this snazzy bee that fits on your finger. Tyler loves to play the bee game that Daddy made up. For those unfamiliar with the game, you take your finger and you buzz like a bee. Then the bee likes to tickle, tickle, and tickle it's victim. Daddy is going to have lots of fun with Tyler's new bee when he gets home I'm sure. LOL

Now that we are settled here in our apartment, I can fulfill all the requests we received in regards to showing some photos of our new place. Starting with one of the most important, Tyler's room. It didn't take very long for Tyler to adapt to his new space. The best part of his room is the view from his window. He can see the playground! His room also has plenty of space for his toys. And we are very thankful for the huge walk-in closet he has to store even more of his belongings. Overall, I think he is going to be quite happy with his room for the next three years.

If I Had a Hammer...

The other day our friend, Rhia, told us about this program they have for kids where they actually get to build their own projects. Tyler and I were very excited about it and so today we met up with her and her children to take part. First of all, I must say I was highly impressed. Everything was free!!! They gave Tyler his own apron and kits with everything he needed to complete the projects. The first project we made was a race car display case. Wow, all the hammering and the wood totally brought back memories of shop class. Tyler did pretty good with the hammer. He was so proud of himself and so was I. Well, after we were finished with that project we had lots of time to do another, so we chose to make a mini wagon. Oh it turned out sooo cute!!! We had a fantastic time and next week the other hardware store is hosting another workshop for kids, so you know where we're going to be!!!

Book Club

To help encourage parents/caregivers to read to their children, the library started a book club for preschoolers. Even though, we really didn't need the encouragement since I love reading to Tyler and we've been reading together since he was an infant, we joined the club. To complete the assignment we had to read eight books. That same day, Tyler and I came home from the library and read our eight books. To make it even more fun, the librarian gave us a chart to keep track of the number of books we read. Tyler had to put a sticker on each of the Peter Rabbit pictures on the chart given to us. Then I recorded the book titles. We picked a great selection for our list from the library books we checked out. What a great idea to promote reading to your children!

Sending Some Smiles

The earthquake in Haiti was absolutely devastating. The lives of the Haitians will never be the same. What's really close to my heart is the children that were involved. Many were left with serious injuries or became orphans. It's just so sad to think of what they went through or is continuing to go through. To help ease their pain, it is being asked that we send some sunshine along their way in the form of colouring books and crayons. Steve passed along the address to me last week and this morning, Tyler and I went to the post office and mailed off a package in hope that it cheers some Haitian children for a little while. If you would like to send some colouring books and crayons to help bring a smile to a child who could really use one right now, please send me an e-mail and I will gladly give you the address.
