Spooktacular Halloween

Every year Tyler's school does a Halloween event for the students, local kids and their families. They sell tickets to help raise money for the PTSO. There are games, bouncy tents, food, haunted houses set up, and even trick or treating. Here are some of our photos.

Arad Park

The temperatures are slowly starting to drop here in Bahrain, allowing us to finally enjoy some outside activities. This afternoon, we went the Arad Park where Tyler drove his bike and Steve and I followed by foot. It was actually a bit warmer than we thought and we still worked up a bit of a sweat. Not nearly as much as we would have this time last month though.

Nightmare on Spine Street

Tyler wanted to be a Creeper from Minecraft for Halloween this year. So we got together and worked on this each night this week. We headed out to the Navy base for the family Halloween event. Tyler received lots of comments about how awesome his costume was!

Costume Making

It's that time of year again! How fast the time flew by! Tomorrow night is our base Halloween event and we only started producing Tyler's costume a few days ago. Last night, we got busy with it again, but ran out of glue. Tonight, we need to have it completed!! Stay tuned for the big unveiling...

Fragile

Steve received a phone call and when he got on the phone, he said the delivery guy is here. Delivery guy? Did I not make enough for dinner? LOL He said it's our Christmas gift. Christmas gift? So the bell rings and these guys bring in two big boxes. Steve won't give us any hints, only that they are for Christmas. I wonder what could be inside? It reminds me of the scene from the movie "A Christmas Story" where they receive the leg lamp. LOL

Tyler said he thought he heard the elf a few days ago, so he taped a note to the outside of our door for the elf to come.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving

Today we celebrated Thanksgiving with our Canadian group of friends living here in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. For a few weeks now, myself along with two other Canadian ladies worked to organize this special lunch for us. We had it catered at the Bahrain Rugby Football Club. The chef created a special authentic Canadian Thanksgiving meal for us and it was absolutely divine. We also created some Canadian quizzes for some added fun. It was a wonderful afternoon and we met a lot of new friends. Since there was such a large turnout for the event, we hope to get our group together more often. It was a nice feeling to know we have such a large population from home here, especially those from the Maritime provinces where I'm from.

Eid Mubarak

This week is the Eid celebration here in the Middle East. It is when the Muslims give thanks for their blessings. The schools are out for the week, including Tyler's school. So, we've been trying to keep busy here at home. Yesterday we played several games of uno and Tyler made us a yummy trail mix.

Happy Birthday, Dad!!!

Another year has gone by and Steve is celebrating another birthday. We decided to make it a weekend event since it fell on a Thursday (which is like our Friday here in Bahrain). Thursday after work, Tyler and I surprised him with a cake. I made his favorite, carrot cake. After cake, Tyler insisted he make us treat bags. LOL He filled them up with various candy. Then he gave Dad his gift and card he made. He gave him a French press coffee maker.
Part 2 of Dad's special day, I gave him my gift and card I made. While Tyler was at a birthday party, we took advantage of our time alone together and I treated him to dinner at his favorite restaurant.
Then the following day, I made him his favorite dinner at home, pork chops. He had a great birthday weekend. :)

How Would You Spend A Million Dollars?

Tyler completed his first project for the school year. It was called "The Million Dollar Project". The children had to pretend they inherited a million dollars and they had to figure out how they would spend it. There were certain rules to follow like they had to buy a house, vehicle, donate money to charities, and go on a trip somewhere. They had to do research online and provide actual information on the purchases they made, as well as write checks. Tyler ended up buying a used 1975 yacht after he purchased a home, a truck, donated to a homeless shelter, animal shelter and the Virginia Zoo. He also took a trip to go see Nanny in Canada.
